Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving week, dear friends.

On Monday night Andrew and I had our Thanksgiving dinner, since I have to work on Thursday and we won't be together for Thanksgiving next year. We invited all the international girls. We ended up having around 15 people over, including Mike, Christina, and baby, my brother Andrew with Hannah and Mariah, and Matt and Lindsey. Andrew and I cooked all day, and we had soooooo much food! We made our very first turkey--mostly Andrew's handiwork. It all turned out great...such a blast. We taught the internationals how to play "King Elephant" and "Mafia" and they loved it.

Pictures soon!

Love, Alicia

Well, I'm here at work--my orientee is taking care of both patients, so I thought I'd put up a quick update.

Sewing circle was good...but it's too infrequent! If I could only remember to always bring my planner. I love you girls. When we catch up I know better how to pray.

This passage from Psalm 36 has been an encouragement to me:

"How precious is your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and Your give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light."

He gives every breath

Dear friends,

Lately I feel the need for more communication. I figured out how to get on xanga at work, so perhaps I'll have more chances to update this. I'd really like to stay on top of it and have xanga as a way to connect with you all, especially Audrey, Emily, Jenny, Colette....if I start updating can I convince you to do so as well?

To say life changes quickly is such an understatement. God help me not take for granted what He's given me at this very moment!

Here's what's going on with us currently:

Happily married for 5 1/2 months. Marriage could not be sweeter. I love my husband with all my heart. What a wonderful guy!

I'm still working at the med/surg ICU at our local hospital. Going well. I just cut down to 3 12 hour shifts a weeks. Right now I'm training one of the new nurses (she'll be with me for the next month....she's the reason I have time to write this at work because she's taking care of both patients now!). Andrew just started working with my dad this week, and he'll do that for the rest of the month. So far he's really enjoying it.

The big news with us is that Andrew is deploying to Iraq next year. He'll leave in February for mobilization training somewhere here in the states. Then he'll leave from there for Iraq...probably sometime in April. Once he steps foot in Iraq, he'll be there for 12-15 months, with two weeks of R&R in the middle.

So! We've been adjusting to that. It's been hard to grasp, and I've done plenty of crying, praying, and calling out to Jesus. He has been so present, though, and teaching me so much. I'm learning, learning, learning. Not easy learning at all, but so good.

In December, Andrew and I are going to Costa Rica for 12 days for a vacation before he leaves. :)

That's all for now. I'm going to try to stay in touch.

Love you all. Coveting your prayers!

~Alicia

Darlings,
Forgive my absence. I'm back now, as much as I possibly can.
#1 excuse for my absence: Lack of internet access
#2 newly married
#3 xanga is blocked at work

That's all I've got. But I'm back now. More later!

Love, Alicia

7 short and sweet days away from matrimony!

Hello all my dearhearts!

Yesterday I worked my last shift at the hospital for the next 3 weeks...now I can focus completely on getting married, some last minute planning, and moving out of Carisa's house. Oh, I'm free!!!!!!! Yay!

It's going to be a beautiful day. Andrew is in Alabama at drill (the last drill where I won't go with him!). The weather here is wonderful. I'm going to spend time with Jesus, sit outside in the sun, clean, pack, go to Walmart, etc. It's all very exciting.

How can I be grateful enough for my life? It's so thoroughly seeped in God's goodness.

All my love,
the soon-to-be Alicia Dawn Perrin
